Broughty Ferry RNLI joins Facebook

In Keeping up with the times, Broughty Ferry RNLI has created a Facebook presence to keep people interested in station activities abreast of the latest information.

The newly designed Broughty Ferry RNLI website (www.broughtyferrlifeboat.org) is currently generating huge interest locally and nationally, generating around 400 hits per month. It was launched in September 2008. Since then a lot of content has been uploaded to keep visitors coming back.

Broughty Ferry RNLI constantly updates its site with that latest lifeboat launches and news from the station. The website is updated with images and photos from Broughty Ferry RNLI events, training exercises and also contains crew pictures. The video section on www.broughtyferrylifeboat.org contains recent footage of training exercises and archive footage of the Broughty Ferry Lifeboat shed, it's crew and boats.

A regular newsletter from the site ensures that regular visitors are kept updated with sites updates. The site also contains an events section for upcoming fundraising events, and other lifeboat activities.

Broughty Ferry RNLI joined Facebook to increase the stations profile. "Online social networking sites are a great tool to get our message out there to the public" said Stephen Stack, Lifeboat Press Officer. "We expect a large user following on facebook.com and people will not be disappointed - we have lots planned."

Broughty Ferry RNLI also has a YouTube presence where all videos are uploaded for the public to view.

Broughty Ferry RNLI has been officially announced as Scotland’s busiest lifeboat station with total of 39 launches so far this year.
